Pink Boa Constrictor
The pink boa constrictor also known as boa constrictor imperator is indigenous to Cayos Cochinos. They are an endemic subspecies, which means that this exact type is found nowhere else in the world except Cayos Cochinos. Although they retain their distinctive darker tail that is characteristic of most members of this species, they have reduced melanin which causes them to be more lightly colored. Their tail color may vary from orange to salmon pink. They are a favorite among collectors and are feared to be almost extinct in the wild.
We often find one or more pink boa constrictors on our nature hikes.
